The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has inaugurated a pedestrian bridge constructed by Dunamis International Gospel Centre in Abuja. The inauguration took place on Friday, October 30, 2026, with Wike acknowledging the church’s efforts in securing government approval for the project.
According to the minister, the church initially applied for approval to construct the bridge in 2018 but did not receive a response until February 2026, when it sent a reminder. He explained that the approval was granted within a month of the reminder.
Wike urged Nigerians to recognise government efforts when public officials deliver on their responsibilities, while also holding them accountable when they fail to meet expectations.
The founder of Dunamis International Gospel Centre, Pastor Paul Enenche, thanked the minister for approving the project. He said the church had made several attempts to obtain permission for the bridge over a six-year period. The inauguration also featured an exchange between Wike and Enenche after the minister disclosed that the pastor had asked him not to use the occasion for political campaigning.
Wike, however, maintained that discussions about governance were part of politics, noting that Enenche had also addressed issues of bad governance during church sermons.
