A farmer, identified as Samson Gabriel, has allegedly been hacked to death with a machete by his neighbour, Lekan Oyebamiji, following a disagreement over money in Akinlalu community, Osun State.
The incident reportedly occurred on Saturday and caused tension in the community, with some residents said to have left their homes for fear of being arrested by the police. According to residents, the disagreement between the two neighbours escalated into a violent confrontation after Oyebamiji allegedly picked up a machete and attacked Gabriel, leaving him with several injuries.
A community source claimed that the victim suffered multiple cuts, including injuries to his wrist, head and other parts of his body. The Osun State Police Command confirmed that Oyebamiji had been arrested in connection with the incident.
The command’s spokesperson, Abiodun Ojelabi, said preliminary information suggested that the killing followed a money-related disagreement between the neighbours. He added that the police had begun an investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
