Enugu Air to Begin Lagos-London Flights in December

Enugu Air has received regulatory approval to begin direct flights between Lagos and London Gatwick in December 2026. The state-owned airline announced on Wednesday, November 4, that bookings for the new route are now open through its online booking portal.

In a statement, the airline described the approval as a major step in its international expansion and an opportunity to improve air connectivity between Nigeria and the United Kingdom. The Lagos-London service will operate in partnership with Omni-Blu Aviation (OBA), which has been appointed as the designated operating partner for the route.

The announcement comes about six weeks after Enugu Air operated its first international flight to Douala, Cameroon, on September 23, 2026. The airline also credited Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah’s aviation development plans for supporting its expansion, saying the initiative is aimed at positioning Enugu as a gateway for international connectivity, investment, tourism and economic growth.

Enugu Air was launched in July 2025 with an initial fleet of three Embraer aircraft, comprising the E170 and E190 series. Its establishment formed part of the state government’s plan to develop a modern transport system and position Enugu as a regional aviation hub in West and Central Africa.

Since its launch, the airline has expanded its fleet and route network, with the new approval marking another step towards international operations. The Lagos-London service is expected to provide passengers with more travel options and strengthen business and trade connections between Nigeria and the United Kingdom.
